Gathering Hour (a DBA of The Transience LLC, 350 Warren Street, Studio 3, Jersey City, NJ 07302) operates thegatheringhour.com. This page explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us any time.
We only collect what we actually need to run the business. When you place an order or sign up for our newsletter, we collect the information you give us directly: name, email address, shipping address and order details. If you contact us, we keep the content of that message so we can respond. Payment information is handled entirely by Shopify, our checkout provider; we never see or store your full card details ourselves. We don't collect anything beyond this, and we don't buy or combine your information with data from other sources.
We use your information to process orders, send order and shipping updates, respond to questions, and, only if you've opted in, send occasional emails about new gatherings and hosting inspiration. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers below who need it to help us run the business.
Our site uses cookies and similar browser storage to keep your cart working as you browse, remember basic preferences, and understand how visitors use the site. See our full Cookie Policy below for exactly what's used and how to opt out.
We work with a small number of outside services to run the site, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job: Shopify handles checkout, payment and order fulfillment; Klaviyo sends the waitlist and newsletter emails you opt into; and, once enabled, Google Analytics helps us understand site traffic in aggregate (see the Cookie Policy below for how to opt out of that). Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf.
We keep order and account information for as long as needed to fulfill orders, meet our tax and accounting obligations, and resolve any disputes, then delete or anonymize it. If you unsubscribe from our emails, we stop sending them right away and Klaviyo retains only what's needed to honor that opt-out.
Gathering Hour is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, and opt out of the sale or "sharing" of your information (Gathering Hour doesn't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of there today). To exercise any of these rights, contact us; we'll respond within the time required by applicable law. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link at the bottom of any email we send, and you can opt out of analytics cookies at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer.
We may update this policy from time to time as the business grows. We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever we do.
When you first visit, a small banner lets you know cookies are in use and gives you the option to turn off non-essential ones. Here's exactly what we use them for:
These keep the site and your cart working, for example remembering what's in your cart as you browse between pages. The site can't function without these, so they're not subject to opt-out.
We use your browser's local storage (not a tracking cookie) to remember whether you've dismissed the cookie banner and your cookie preference, so we don't ask you again on every page.
Once enabled, Google Analytics helps us understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and which pages they find useful. It does not identify you personally. You can turn this off at any time using "Turn off analytics cookies" in the cookie banner, or the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer.
If you sign up for our newsletter or waitlist, Klaviyo (our email provider) uses its own tracking to measure whether emails are opened and links are clicked, so we can tell what's useful to send. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer of any page, or by adjusting your browser's own cookie settings (which will affect every site you visit, not just this one).
Some pages contain affiliate links to third-party retailers. When you click one, the retailer or affiliate network (such as CJ, Sovrn, Rakuten or Amazon) may place a cookie on your browser to track that the purchase came from Gathering Hour. We don't receive your payment details or personal information from these purchases. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.
By using this site and placing an order, you agree to these terms. Please don't use the site for anything unlawful or in a way that could damage or disrupt it. You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to place an order.
All orders are processed through Shopify. Prices are listed in US dollars. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order for any reason, including suspected fraud or errors in pricing.

All content on this site, including text, photos, videos, designs and the Gathering Hour name and logo, belongs to Gathering Hour (or is used with the rights holder's permission) and may not be used without our permission.
We do our best to make sure everything on this site is accurate, but we can't guarantee it's error-free. Gathering Hour isn't liable for any indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the site or our products.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
